Before you come to China, I will tell you some customs in my culture. In China, there are many different traditions and customs in food, marriage, funerals, festivals and entertainment.
Firstly, I want to teach you a simple word, “ni hao” means “hello”. When you meet a friend or other people just say “ni hao”. It is very polite. I like eating, so I will tell you something about food. In China, people eat rice and noodles as their staple diet, and many people love to eat vegetables, beans, meat, fish and eggs. Chinese people don’t like to “GO DUTCH”. It depends on a relationship, if you are friends, he or she will pay all of money when he or she asks you to go out for meal. It’s a custom.
Secondly, I will tell you about the rules for weddings and funerals, if you want to get married with a pretty Chinese girl or boy. According to the Marriage Laws, a man may legally marry at age 22 and a woman at 20 and go to a marriage registration office to log on. The bride has to wear a red traditional dress. About funerals, the ceremonies in China are very simple. White is the traditional color for funerals.
Lastly, I will tell some details about Chinese traditional festivals and customs. China's major traditional festivals include the Spring Day Festival, the Lantern Festival, Pure Brightness Day, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Double Ninth Festival. When people visit China, when you talk to someone, you can’t use your finger to point to someone. It’s not respectful. Driving car is different from New Zealand, a driver sits in the left in a car and drives on the right side of a road.
Welcome to China. If you want to know more information about China, come to China, I will tell you patiently and be your personal tourist guide.
