Saho writes us about Japanese customs

There are many social customs in Japan. Many Japanese learn courtesy from
their parents. One example, when I go to my friend’s house, first I take off my shoes. It’s common sense in Japan. Then I have to put my shoes neatly side by side, and I always greet by saying
“Ojyamashimasu”. If I don’t say it, maybe some Japanese think I don’t have the decency to greet. It’s an important Japanese social custom. Sometimes I bring some snacks and
drinks for my friend. It’s just my feeling. Another example, if you meet your acquaintance, you
should bow to them or greeting. The bow is very important for Japanese. It
shows a courtesy for other people. When elder people say something to me, I
always answer with a polite bow. We have a more important thing. It is an
honorific word. Many Japanese use it, but many people make a mistake using
the honorific word. So if you want to talk to senior people, you should be
careful. Some foreigners think most Japanese are very shy. But I think it’s not the only reason, it’s because of our own culture. Sometimes we demand a humble attitude. I can’t explain all Japanese social customs. We have too many customs!
