Different Country, Different Nightlife by Jason

Today, I want to talk about the differences between the nightlife in Dunedin and the nightlife in my country. Maybe there are many things we need to know. In fact, there are varied and colourful night activities in my country. Take the city I lived in for example, there are a lot of public places of entertainment, like karaoke bars or we called this KTV. Generally we go there and hang out with our friends or families. Another place we usually go are different kinds of bars or clubs we can see in Beijing. Tens of thousands of people who come from everywhere in my country, they want to come here and enjoy the nightlife in Beijing. Especially the young guys and girls who want to find something special for fun. Now, I have been here for about four months and I have found the nightlife in Dunedin is so crazy. I have seen some of the teenagers who went to bars or some friends’ places drinking a lot of beers, they hit the road and they do not wear any clothes on their bodies. It astounds me! I could not believe it. Why do people do these things? It is amazing! However, I just thought that was the culture of Dunedin. So, these are all I know about differences of cultures between a night out in my city and in Dunedin.

Hung describes Vietnamese culture

Vietnamese culture is very interesting and fascinating. VietNam and China have some of the same customs. Example: Tet holiday, New Year occasion, Trung Thu event and more … But some special customs are just be in VietNam.

Vietnamese people are very friendly and enthusiastic. When you meet a Vietnamese, you just say “Hello” and maybe shake their hand. Vietnamese will be happy if you can say “ Xin Chao” (it means Hello).

Vietnamese culture is effected by East Asia. Relationship between men and women is to be taken notice of. Couples shouldn’t kiss or do any familiar acts in public. You should respect with old people and teachers.

Vietnamese‘s main religon is Buddhism so you have to wear elegant clothes and take off your shoes when you go to a pagoda.

You shouldn’t use your hand to point at some people. It’s so impolite.

Maybe having some different culture that you should know but I don’t remember it all :D

Tony describes a night out in Dunedin

I think nights out are interesting for everyone all over the world and it is one of the greatest relaxing things after working. Although, some people over-drink when they leave from the bar and make some mistakes with other people, but they still enjoy their night’s time.

In my city, the vast majority of people love dancing and drinking in the bar after working, but some people also drink on the beach near the city. Nowadays, have an increasing number of teenagers all like to go out at night. They sing the songs and dance with drink. But a lot of adults like watching the football on the TV in the bar with their friends.

I have never been to the bar and a night out here, but I also can hear a lot of information about the night out from my friends. Although it is a small city here, there are many cool bars here. Especially on Friday in the evening, a lot of university students love to have a night out in the city center here.

a night out in Jeddah

Jeddah, is the commercial capital of the KSA , in fact it’s the most beautiful and busiest city in Saudi Arabia. There we have a different life from here in Dunedin. In Jeddah we always have an active day. If you want to hang out with your friends you will find many places you can go. For instance, nights out my country are much livelier than nights out Dunedin. You can see teenagers, older people and families all night. We have the highest fountain in the world on the medial of the Red Sea, so people have been sit there for lunch or dinner. In Dunedin you can’t stay all night at the beach. Also cafes and restaurants are open until the dawn, not like here. In addition, if you like to have an amazing time you should go to the one of the amusement parks. That is just one thing I’m really missing here.

Finally, I know Jeddah isn’t a remarkably pious city. Of course, you will hear about other parts of the kingdom, but compared to the rest of the kingdom, Jeddah has a less stringent atmosphere just like the atmosphere here. People in Dunedin are very welcoming and friendly.

From Tabuk to Dunedin

In this essay I will describe the differences between a night out in my city and a night out in Dunedin from three sides. How I spend my time, society and fun.

My city is called Tabuk in the north east of Saudi Arabia. I spend my nights out there going to the sea and making fire and listening to my friend’s songs, this activity I do in the summer. At winter the activity is completely different. All the we time choose some place warm. For example, my friends house or my father’s house to stay near the fire in the fire place for talking about news, sports or education.

Also sometimes stay and play computer games or use the web.

In Dunedin , I just study most of my time and text my friends for in weekend to go out clubbing, to stay and talk about everythings that happening with them all the week.

I think Japanese customs are interesting for a person from another country. It is famous thing that people bow to each other when they meet acquaintance somewhere. This action is one of the greetings in my country. Especially this is important for older people than me.

Many people know it. We have to take off shoes in the house. We distinguish between inside and outside. I have never put on my shoes in my house. (expect when I forget something…)

When people become twenty years old we have a celebration. Many women wear the long-sleeved KIMONO then. It is traditional wear. I wore it a few yeas ago. I got the KIMONO from my mother. It was made by my grandmother. Twenty years old is thought to be an important year. So we have a celebration party. When I graduated from my university I wore another KIMONO.

Differences between Xian and Dunedin

In China you can go out every night because we have a lot of people you know. you can play and drink every day, but in Dunedin just every Friday night and saturday night,

because the days have many people on the street. You can talk and drink with someone. I think it is better than China. You can have much more time to work or study not spend

much time playing and doing something. It is just a waste. the time to do some useless. I like nights and have an interesting nightlife with my friends. I am an evening person, so

I need to go out and do something. I can't stay at home. It is so bored. If you have a break you can study and work very well. Dunedin doesn't have enough bars and clubs but in China

we have a lot of clubs to go and a types are different. Chinese clubs are better than here.
